A numerical study was conducted to analyse fluid flow patterns and heat exchange in a wavy microchannel heat sink (MCHS). The main focuses of the present work are to further hydrothermal improvement of wavy MCHS by altering relative wave amplitude and wavelength along the microchannel. The total thermal resistance and dimensionless PEC (performance evaluation criteria) number are chosen to evaluate MCHS performance in the range of 200 ≤ Re ≤ 1200. The result shows that the new MCHS has superior performance at higher Reynolds numbers and among the several models that have been studied, smaller changes in the wavelength/ wave amplitude amounts give better thermal-hydraulic characteristics than other geometries. A maximum of 1.135 and 1.058 PEC numbers are obtained for wavelength and wave amplitude modification for Re = 1200d, respectively. However, overall thermal performance by incorporating wavelength and increasing channel height simultaneously leads to a further increment of overall thermal performance.
