What is Unit 6 2 about?

The 8255 is a programmable parallel I/O device with 3 8-bit ports (A, B, C) that can be configured for input, output or handshake modes. It is commonly used to interface with analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). To interface an ADC using the 8255: 1) Issue a start of conversion pulse to initiate sampling, 2) Wait for the end of conversion signal indicating data is ready, 3) Read the digital output data from the ADC using the 8255 ports. This allows microprocessors to control the analog to digital conversion
