This study analyzed hair samples from 80 nightclub and dance music festival attendees in New York City to test for traditional drugs of abuse and new psychoactive substances (NPS). Hair testing allows detection of substances consumed over extended periods versus urine/blood testing. 57 samples tested positive for at least one substance. 26 samples tested positive for at least one NPS, most commonly butylone detected in 25 samples.
