This study analyzed changes in land surface temperature (LST) in Baghdad, Iraq between 1984 and 2020 using Landsat images. The results showed that LST increased significantly over this period due to urbanization and loss of vegetation. The highest LST was found in residential and barren areas, while the lowest was near water bodies and orchards. Urban heat island effects were clearly detected in 2020, especially in suburban areas. LST was strongly influenced by land use/land cover, with less vegetated areas
