LASER is an acronym that stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Laser light differs from ordinary light in that it is directional, monochromatic, and coherent. A laser is generated by passing an energy source such as electricity or light through an excitation medium in a laser device. Lasers can pose more of a hazard than ordinary light because they can focus a large amount of power onto a small area.
