This study examines student motivation and academic achievement in online English as a foreign language (EFL) classes at a university in Turkey. An online survey was used to collect student motivation scores at the beginning and end of a term from 144 participants. Interviews were also conducted with students who saw decreases or increases in motivation. Correlations showed a moderate positive relationship between motivation and achievement.
