From the cytotoxic and positive inotropic acting bark extract of the Philippinan Lophopetalum toxicum eight heart glycosides have been isolated and their structures have been elucidated mainly by field-desorption-MS-and 'Hand I3C-NMR spectroscopy. Besides the known k-Strophanthidin (l), Antiarigenin (6) and B-Antiarin (Antiarigenin-3-P-0 -a-L-rhamnoside, 10) the following mono-and diglycosides could be identified: strophanthidin-3-B-0 -~-6-desoxy-~-allopyranoside (strophalloside, 2), strophanthidin-3-p-0 -P-6-desoxy-~-glucopyranoside ( = Strophanthidin chinovoside, 3), strophanth~din-3-~-O-[4-O-~-~-allopyranosy~-~-6-desoxy-~-allopyranos~de] (4), stro-phanth~din-3-~-0-[3-0-~-~-glucopyranosyl-~-6-desoxy-~-ta~opyranos~de] (5), antiari-gen~n-3-~-0-[3-O-~-~-gulopyranosy~-~-6-desoxy-~-ta~opyranos~de] (7), antiarigenin-3-8-0 -[4-0 -~-~-a~lopyranosy~-~-6-desoxy-~-a~~opyranoside] (8), and antiarigenin-3-B -0 -P-6-desoxy-~-allopyranoside (antiallosid) (9).
