Tropical storms form over warm ocean waters when unstable air masses converge and rise upwards due to the warm temperatures. As the air rises, condensation occurs forming cumulonimbus clouds. The continuous rising air keeps sucking up moisture from the warm water below, causing the clouds to grow larger and form together into a tropical storm.
