## Simpler purification of helium A previous paper1 about chromatographic analysis of trace mixtures of other permanent gases in helium described a six-stage process for purifying helium to sub-v.p.m. levels for use as a carrier gas. The six stages were beds of titanium at + 800~ and manganese and copper oxide at + 350" and four beds of molecular sieve at +zo" and -196". This note gives details of a\* simpler but equally effective threestage purification process. The previous process has been simplified by excluding the 800~ titanium bed and by reducing the number of molecular sieve beds from four to one.
