What is Joe Valerio : Valerio Dewalt Train : architecture about?

This new monograph features thirty projects by Joe Valerio, a highly innovative Chicago-based architect who has completed residential and commercial projects throughout the U.S. By way of explaining the processes at work in the creation of his particular brand of updated modernism, Valerio cites works of various visual artists -- including Jasper Johns, Cindy Sherman and Roger Brown -- who have influenced him. The result is a unique collage of art and architecture that departs from the conventional monograph form to give a refreshing and multilayered discourse combining architecture, painting, photography, and innovative graphic design. Notable projects include the 3Com Regional Corporate Headquarters and the NBC Studio for the Democratic National Convention, both in Chicago. Introduction By Malcolm Holzman. Includes Bibliographical References (p. 153-154).
