About this document
Theatron: The Greek Theatre Seating by Muhammad Adnan Ayub is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The ancient Greek theaters were built into hillsides with tiered stone benches, dividing the audience area into sections. The performance space, known as the orchestra, was located at the base and partially surrounded by the rising audience sections. A wooden or stone building known as the skene stood behind the orchestra and contained entry doors for actors. The theaters were designed with the audience surrounding the performance space on an incline for optimal viewing.
