William Wordsworth was a founder of English Romanticism and one of its most important figures. He wrote Lyrical Ballads with Samuel Taylor Coleridge and The Prelude. Wordsworth met Coleridge in 1795 and they published Lyrical Ballads in 1798, which was influential. Coleridge was also a leader of the Romantic movement and befriended Wordsworth, influencing his poetry.
