Gopinath, age 13, presented with hematuria and left loin pain for 2 days. Initial workup found hematuria but no other abnormalities. After no improvement with conservative treatment, further evaluation at a higher institute revealed an abnormal coagulation profile, leading to a diagnosis of Hemophilia A. This prevented a potentially catastrophic complication from a planned renal biopsy. Retrospective review found a similar undiagnosed illness in the patient
