Ang Cho Kio was convicted of crimes in the Philippines and sentenced to prison. After serving 6.5 years, he was granted a conditional pardon by the President requiring that he leave the Philippines and never return. However, Ang Cho Kio returned to the Philippines, violating the terms of his pardon. As a result, the Executive Secretary ordered that he be recommitted to prison to serve the remainder of his original sentence.
