What is Association of Cryoprecipitate Use with Survival After Major Trauma in Children Receiving Massive Transfusion about?
2015 to 2016. The outcome studied was PE diagnosed on CTPA or high-probability V/Q scan during the initial diagnostic workup or a venous thromboembolism (VTE) occurring during the individual study's follow-up period. For the score derivation portion of the study, variables known to have the potential to be associated with PE were analyzed. Chest pain and dyspnea were individually excluded because patients were likely to present with either of these as a chief complaint, as were variables with more than 2% missing data. Dyspnea and chest pain were taken into account if both were present together in a given patient. The score was then tested for accuracy by retrospectively analyzing the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve after the receiver operating characteristic curve was calculated for the remaining data from the included studies. After exclusion of patients without all necessary data for analysis, 5588 patients in the derivation cohort, 3726 patients in the internal validation cohort, 1548 patients in the first external validation cohort, and 1669 patients in the second external validation cohort were included in the final analyses.
