The Maori texts are drawn from various sources, including Elsdon Best's Tuhoe, Sir Apirana Ngata and Pei Te Hurinui Jones's Nga Moteatea, Te Ao Hou, the Maori newspaper Te Wananga, and the Journal of the Polynesian Society, as well as from previously unpublished manuscripts in the Grey Collection.
