What is DES Algorithm Explained with Example about?

DES uses a 56-bit key that is divided into 8 blocks of 7 bits each with an 8th parity bit added to each block. DES then acts on 64-bit blocks of plaintext using 16 rounds of permutations, substitutions and swaps. Each round uses a different 48-bit subkey to modify the left and right 32-bit blocks. The final blocks are recombined and output as the 64-bit ciphertext block.
