## MEDLARS database To the Editor: The National Library of Australia would like to hear from health and medical professionals who are interested in obtaining direct online access to the MEDLARS database. Use by these "endusers" of the database has until now been limited, by computing and telecommunications restraints, to a small number of practitioners and research workers within existing MEDLINE centres (hospitals, universities, etc.). The proliferation of computer equipment in laboratories and private practices has prompted many requests for access to MEDLINE from medical practitioners over the past three years, and we are now pleased to announce that a limited number can be accommodated. Those interested should contact the undersigned for a copy of a detailed information circular. It is envisaged that a series of introductory sessions of 1-2 hours' duration will be held mid-year in various locations to acquaint prospective users with the MEDLINE system, and formal training courses will be arranged as demand warrants. Should demand be sufficient to force us to allocate priorities, those from group practices will be accommodated first, although naturally every effort will be made
