This study investigates the impact of vanadium alloying on the microstructure and abrasive wear behavior of an Fe–5.5 wt.% B surfacing alloy created via plasma arc welding. The findings indicate that increasing vanadium content leads to a reduction in microcracks within the primary Fe2B phase and enhances wear resistance, while the hardness of the alloy initially increases before decreasing. The research aims to provide insights for designing Fe–B surfacing alloys with improved properties.
