In a case report, two patients aged 4 years (one girl, one boy) were described, who developed encephalopathy during treatment with valproic acid for CACNA1A mutation associated epilepsy [routes, dosages and duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. Both the patients with CACNA1A mutation associated epilepsy started receiving valproic acid. Subsequently, both the patients developed altered mental status. Both the patients were diagnosed with valproic acid-induced encephalopathy. Valproic acid was switched to unspecified anti-seizure therapy in both the patients. Improvement in mental status was noted in both the patients.
