What is Potato Nest Positioning with UWB Radar about?

This document discusses using ultra-wideband radar to detect potato nests underground in order to optimize potato digging. It describes previous work detecting sugar beets and the differences in detecting potatoes. Detection of the bottom depth of potato nests could allow optimization of the digging path to save energy and reduce soil removal. Preliminary tests were done in simulated field conditions to analyze radar signals reflected from and transmitted through potato ridges.
