About this document
Understanding Surface Tension Concepts by RAJDEEP DAS is a document available to read on EtoBox.
A drop of oil placed on water will remain as a sphere because the cohesive forces within the oil are stronger than the adhesive forces between the oil and water molecules. The temperature at which the surface tension of water is zero is the critical temperature of water, which is 374°C. Small droplets are usually more spherical than larger drops of the same liquid because the force of surface tension predominates over the force of gravity for small droplets.
