Alexander Meharry, III was born 5 August 1763 in Ballyjamesduff, Cavan, Ireland. He married Jane Gillespie and they had two children. He married Jane Francis (b. 1771), daughter of John Francis and Margaret Cranston, 7 May 1794. They emigrated in 1794 and lived in New York, Philadelphia, New London and Fayette, Pennsylvania and finally settled in and Adams County, Ohio
