Antoine de la Sale was a 15th century French courtier, educator and writer. He participated in military campaigns in his youth before beginning his writing career in his late 30s. Some of his most notable works included La Salade, a textbook for the education of a prince written between 1438-1447 for the son of René of Anjou. His most famous work was Little John of Saintré, published in 1456. Later in life he served as a tutor to the sons of Louis de Luxembourg, Count of Saint-Pol and produced additional wo
