What is Supreme Court Ruling on Sadca Patent Case about?

The Supreme Court upheld the grant of a free patent over a parcel of land in favor of Sadca Acay, a member of the Kankana-ey tribe. While forest land is generally considered inalienable public land, an exception exists for ancestral land occupied by indigenous peoples. The Republic failed to present evidence that Acay committed fraud in his application or that the land was actually part of a protected forest area. Recognizing indigenous rights and beliefs, the Court affirmed the validity of the free patent
