This study investigates the link between chronic malnutrition and the incidence of nosocomial infections in pediatric burn patients at the National Institute of Child Health in Peru. Out of 170 patients, 35% were chronically malnourished, with a 40% infection rate among these patients compared to 12.7% in well-nourished patients, indicating a significant increase in risk. The findings suggest that chronic malnutrition independently elevates the risk of nosocomial infections in this vulnerable population.
