What is Mrs. Elton in America : And Other Stories Inspired by Characters Created by Jane Austen and Herewith Comprising the Compleat Mrs. Elton about?

Mrs. Elton goes farther! Crossing the Atlantic Ocean with her caro sposo and children, she enjoys high comedic adventures in Boston and New York society, makes a sobering visit to a Southern slave state, and sojourns among the Comanche Indians. It's no wonder her trip to America is the talk of Highbury . . . Praise for Mrs. Elton: "It's a delight to meet with old friends in new situations. America, where everything is bigger and better, is just the setting for the obnoxious but hugely entertaining Augusta Elton." -Maggie Lane, Author and Honorary Secretary, The Jane Austen Society of the United Kingdom "A polished virtuoso performance . . . it will surely entertain lovers of Austen's work and women's travel writing alike." -Ellen Moody, George Mason University
