About this document
Overview of Transformer Principles by Mustafa Gökhan Günay is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Transformers transfer energy from a primary winding to a secondary winding through electromagnetic induction. They were invented by Michael Faraday in 1831 and further developed by others. Transformers are used for impedance matching, electrical isolation, and AC power transmission by stepping voltages up or down. Real transformers have losses such as copper losses, leakage flux losses, and core losses that reduce efficiency compared to an ideal transformer with no losses.
