What is Pleasures in Socialism Leisure and Luxury in The Eastern Bloc by David Crowley, Susan E. Reid about?

This introduction discusses the concept of pleasure in socialist societies. While official ideology emphasized happiness, joy, and regulated leisure, people also found pleasures in less sanctioned ways such as drinking, sex, and small everyday enjoyments. Pleasure cannot be fully planned or compelled and was experienced subjectively in various public and private contexts.
