This volume contains four of Marx's most important texts on Value Theory, all in new translation and three appearing in English here for the first time: - Chapter 1 of Capital, from the first edition. - The Form of Value appendix, also from the first edition. - The Results of the Immediate Process of Production, from an 1863-4 research manuscript - The Marginal Notes on Adolph Wagner There are significant differences between the first edition of Capital and all later editions, and it is on these later editions that all English translations are based. Notably, Marx, on advice from friends, simplified his exposition of Value Theory and stripped out much of the theoretical and philosophical terminology for easier reading. Unfortunately, as chapter 1 contains the beating heart of Marx's theory and methodology, this has resulted in conceptual distortions even amongst well-read followers and scholars. This translation also aims to maintain Marxs granular, craggy, dialectical diction, as it is how Marx communicates precisely his concepts.
