About this document

2011, Detection of Human Bocavirus and Human Metapneumovirus by Andargachew Gashu is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This study investigates the occurrence of human metapneumovirus (hMPV) and human bocavirus (hBoV) in children with respiratory symptoms in Porto Alegre, Brazil, using real-time PCR. Out of 455 nasopharyngeal aspirates, hMPV was detected in 14.5% and hBoV in 13.2%, with a high rate of coinfections, particularly with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The findings confirm the circulation of hMPV and hBoV in the region and their significant role in acute viral respiratory infections among children.
