The Government of Botswana instituted a programme to prevent mother-to-child transmission (pMTCT) of HIV in April 1999. The programme provides information that will contribute toward child survival in Botswana through appropriate infant feeding practices in the HIV epidemic. This report seeks to evaluate actual infant feeding practices by mothers and health providers at pMTCT sites and at sites where the programme has not yet been implemented
