Norway is a sovereign state located in Northern Europe. It comprises the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula as well as the remote island of Jan Mayen and the archipelago of Svalbard. Norway has a total area of 385,252 square kilometers and a population of over 5 million people. It shares long borders with Sweden and Finland to the east and also borders Russia in the far north. Norway has an extensive coastline facing the North Atlantic Ocean and Barents Sea.
