What is Screening for Dengue in Pregnancy about?

An intensified short symptom screening program in India screened over 5,800 pregnant women for dengue infection. The screening looked for symptoms like fever, rash, and conjunctivitis in the prior 15 days. Of the women screened, 52 tested positive for dengue, chikungunya, or Zika by PCR. 7 women, or 14% of those tested, were confirmed to have dengue. Intensified screening including conjunctivitis may help improve case detection of dengue during pregnancy.
