About this document
First CRKP Outbreak in Saudi Arabia by Mohammad K Alshomrani is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This document describes a study investigating the first documented outbreak of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) in a tertiary care hospital in Saudi Arabia. During the study period from March to August 2010, a cluster of 8 CRKP cases was detected, primarily in the adult intensive care unit. Whole genome sequencing showed that most strains were genetically related. Many patients had prolonged hospital stays, devices, surgeries, prior carbapenem use, and other multi-drug resistant infections.
