Can I read The Protonation of [Pt~3~(m̈‐CO)~3~(PCy~3~)~3~] on EtoBox?
The Protonation of [Pt~3~(m̈‐CO)~3~(PCy~3~)~3~] by Klaus-Hermann Dahmen; Daniel Imhof; Luigi M. Venanzi is a Chemistry article available to read on EtoBox.
What is The Protonation of [Pt~3~(m̈‐CO)~3~(PCy~3~)~3~] about?
The cluster [Pt+ -CO),(PCy,),] can be protonated with HBF4.0Et, to form the cluster [Pt& - C0),( ),(p3-H)]'BF; (2). This unstable compound was isolated and characterised by NMR and IR spectroscopy Introduction. -Clusters of the type [Pt3@ -CO),(PR,),] are good building blocks for the synthesis of heterometallic cluster compounds. Thus, this 42-e-cluster can add Lewis acids such as M = Cu' 111, Ag' [Z], and Au' [3], and ML = Cu(PR,)+ [l], Ag(PR,)' [l], Au(PR,)' [4], CuBr [5], and AgBr [5] without changing the structure of the Pt, unit to form either the 94-e-sandwich [(Pt,@ -CO),(PR,),},M]+ or the 54-e-halfsandwich [{Pt3@ -CO),(PR,),}(ML)]' cluster. The metal centers of the above-mentioned heterometallic clusters are all isoelectronic, namely d" centers. Furthermore, the fragments Cu(PR,)+, Ag(PR,)+, Au(PR,)', CuBr, and AgBr are all isolobal [6-81, and thus, their LUMO orbitals have similar symmetry. They all have empty valence hybrid orbitals which can interact with the a,-type MO orbital (HOMO) of the [Pt3(u -CO),(PR,),] cluster. The empty valence hybrid orbital of the fragment Au(PR,)' has led to the suggestion that it can behave like H' [ 101 [l 11. The isolobal substitution o
