In July 2021, the euro area recorded a trade surplus of €20.7 billion, with exports increasing by 11.4% and imports by 17.1% compared to July 2020. The EU also saw a surplus of €15.7 billion, with exports up by 10.3% and imports by 18.7%. For the January to July 2021 period, both the euro area and EU experienced significant growth in trade, with surpluses of €122.4 billion and €99.2 billion, respectively.
