What is The Holy Spirit about?

In a famous article, Robert Jensen wrote, "You Wonder Where the Spirit Went?" With that title he was suggesting that modern theology has paid insufficient attention to the Holy Spirit. While Dr. Hauerwas has also been accused of not giving an appropriate account of the work of the Spirit, in this book he will emphasize that the church is one way to give an account of the work of the Spirit, making clear the unmistakable relationship between the work of the Spirit and its significance for the church. We have an opportunity to celebrate the work of the Holy Spirit especially at Pentecost- a high holy feast of the church that has not been appropriately understood. Pentecost is every bit as significant as Christmas. It is the birthday of the church as created through the Spirit, giving the church the task of pointing the world to Jesus. Challenging some presumptions, this book will help people recognize what an extraordinary thing has happened to them through baptism and their inclusion in the Body of Christ through the Spirit. But to do this the author will challenge some of the presumptions surrounding discussions about the Spirit in terms of how the work of the Spirit is understood
