What is Rizal about?

Rizal was tried and executed for treason by the Spanish colonial authorities. [1] He was tried in a military court and found guilty despite mounting a 12 point defense. [2] In his final days, Rizal was visited by priests, family and friends, and he wrote farewell letters and poems. [3] On December 30, 1896, Rizal was executed by firing squad at Bagumbayan Field in Manila at the age of 35.
