What is Editorial about?
This year the Denver X-Ray Conference celebrates its 25th Anniversary and with the U.S.A. in its bicentennial year and Colorado celebrating its centennial, the August meeting was a rather special one. This meeting, which started in a very modest way in the early days of X-ray spectrometry and X-ray powder diffractometry, has gained in reputation steadily over the years and is now recognized throughout the world as the annual meeting in X-ray analytical techniques. The past several years have seen excellent attendances with this year setting yet another record. This year also saw a significant change in the format of the meeting, since for the first time in recent years the meeting took place at the University of Denver rather than the traditional venue at a hotel in downtown Denver. To this extent the Denver meeting has started to take on the format of the European style conference yet still retaining its own characteristic features.
