What is Architecture for Web-Connected Devices about?

This document proposes an architecture for connecting embedded devices to the Internet. It begins with a taxonomy that classifies devices based on their level of network integration, from "network unaware" to "fully networked." It then describes a generic architecture based on Internet standards that could enable various types of embedded systems to be web-enabled. The architecture aims to standardize protocols and facilitate zero-configuration of networked devices.
