This study evaluates the need for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery following orthognathic surgery in a cohort of 630 patients. Out of these, only 1.6% required additional arthroscopic TMJ surgery, with mixed outcomes; four patients experienced successful results while six continued to have pain. The findings suggest that arthroscopy is more effective in patients without pre-existing TMJ complaints, while those with internal derangement showed less favorable outcomes.
