The study investigates the role of Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Kinase 4 (PDK4) in regulating vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) functions related to neointimal hyperplasia, a key factor in restenosis and atherosclerosis. Inhibition of PDK4 using PDK4-IN-1 was found to suppress VSMC proliferation and migration, promote apoptosis and autophagy, and reduce neointimal formation in both in vitro and in vivo models.
