The cultural group the author chose to learn about was Native Americans. They interviewed a 6th grade Native American student named S.E. at a Pow-wow. S.E. said she enjoyed hands-on outdoor learning but her school lacked this. She disliked social studies because it ignored Native history. Based on this, the author plans to incorporate more outdoor lessons and Native culture into their teaching to better engage Native students.
