What is Triethanolamine Safety Report about?

Triethanolamine has low toxicity but can irritate skin and eyes and sometimes cause sensitization. Animal studies are inconclusive on its carcinogenic potential. It easily biodegrades but its byproducts must be monitored. It is restricted in Brazil and Europe to a maximum of 2.5% in leave-on cosmetics. It should not be used with N-nitrosating systems. The NOAEL to consider is 349 mg/kg bw/d.
