What is Announcement about?

Following the death in 1993 of Denis Parsons Burkitt, FRS, who is chiefly remembered for his description of the clinical features and epidemiology of the tumour now known as Burkitt's lymphoma, his family decided that the prestigious Benjamin Franklin Institute Bower Award (1990) of £100,000 should be used to set up a trust fund in his memory. The aim of the Denis Burkitt Fund is to encourage the study of non-communicable disease in Africa and to strengthen the research capacity of individuals or institutions in the country where the project is located. Suitable applicants are invited to apply to the Fund, which is administered by the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, for a Fellowship under the following conditions:
