A single vehicle collision with one fatality occurred on Northbound Interstate 19 at Milepost 10.1 in Arizona on January 18, 2011. A Chevrolet TrailBlazer carrying three people blew a rear tire, causing the driver to lose control and overturn in the median. One passenger was ejected and died at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing the rear tire blow out before the vehicle lost control. An investigation found evidence the vehicle had a tread separation on the rear tire prior to overturning.
