This document describes a study that used near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and pattern recognition methods to identify cotton fabrics dyed with plant dyes versus chemical dyes. A total of 336 cotton fabric samples dyed with 6 different dyes (3 plant, 3 chemical) were analyzed. NIR spectra were collected from the samples and pre-processed.
