The hydrostatic design basis (HDB) for Flowtite® pressure pipe has been established as 0.65% strain based on long-term pressure regression tests conducted according to ASTM D2992-96. A total of 44 specimens were tested, showing failure times ranging from under one hour to over 16,000 hours, with the results used to determine the pressure versus time behavior of the pipes. The minimum factor of safety required is 1.8, allowing for the establishment of the pressure regression behavior of Flowtite pipe.
