What is Diethyl Ether Purification Process about?

This patent describes a process for purifying diethyl ether using a single distillation column with extractive distillation by water. Crude ether is fed into the column one-third from the bottom. Water is fed two-thirds from the bottom in an approximately equal volume to the crude ether. Pure diethyl ether is removed five-sixths from the bottom. Low and high boiling impurities are removed from the top and bottom, respectively.
